(Yeni) – According to regulations, the following cases must be replaced or reissued with ID cards from July 1, 2024, everyone should know clearly.
On November 27, 2023, the National Assembly officially passed the Identity Law including 7 chapters, 46 articles, effective from July 1, 2024. In particular, a number of cases must be replaced or reissued with new identification cards.
10 cases where ID cards must be replaced or reissued
According to Article 24 of the Law on Identification, there are 7 cases where identification cards must be renewed:
– When citizens are 14 years old, 25 years old, 40 years old and 60 years old.
– Change information about surname, middle name, birth name, day, month, and year of birth.
– When changing identity, redefining/changing gender.
– There are errors on the identification card regarding the information on this card.
– When changing administrative boundaries or administrative units.
– Reset personal identification number.
– When requested by the person to whom the identification card is issued
Note, when a new ID card is issued, the used CCCD/ID card will be revoked.
When people are under the prescribed age, they will be eligible in the following cases:
– Lost card.
– The card is damaged to the extent that it cannot be used anymore.
– Citizens can return to Vietnamese nationality.
Note, these cases can be done online on the portal or directly to the card issuer to do so.

How to submit a request to reissue an ID card online
– Step 1: First, open the browser on your phone or computer and access the public service portal at https://dichvucong.dancuquocgia.gov.vn/, then click the Login button at upper right corner.
– Step 2: Log in with your national public service portal account (personal identification number (CCCD) and password). In case you do not have an account, you can refer to .
– Step 3: When completed, users just need to return to the home page, type in the search box the keyword ‘identity’ (without apostrophes), then select the Citizen Identification Card Reissue procedure.
Note, the procedure for issuing citizen identification cards only applies to citizens who change from ID card to identification card. Similarly, the procedure for changing citizen identification cards is for the first 7 cases.
– Step 4: In the new page that appears, users only need to select the reason for implementation, select the implementation level as District level and click Continue.
– Step 5: In the new page that appears, check all personal information. If there are information errors, the user should go to the ward or commune police station where they permanently reside to update the data. To save time and effort on travel, check the box Deliver CCCD card to citizen’s address, then click Continue.
How to submit a request to reissue an ID card online
– Step 6: In the next step, users only need to register for a schedule to receive CCCD information. Once everything is done, you will receive an appointment letter containing the code and related information.
To look up the implementation progress and process the application for re-issuance of identification cards, users only need to access the public service portal of the Ministry of Public Security, click on the File Lookup menu, then enter the corresponding application code. .

According to Article 26 of the Law on Identification, the time limit for issuance, renewal, and re-issuance of ID cards is 07 working days from the date of receipt of complete and valid documents, faster than the old regulations in the 2014 Citizen Identification Law. .
