In a message to the hitman, Kwah promised to find a way for him to escape safely to the Philippines.
A year later, the case was brought to trial, the mastermind Kwak was sentenced to life in prison, and the murderer Cho was sentenced to 22 years in prison. In addition, Kwak had to pay a total of 1.3 billion won (24 billion VND) in compensation for the losses to Song Sun Mi and her daughter.
