Nguyen Van Long (nicknamed Long “mutant” or Long Marathon) is currently the number 1 runner in Vietnam. With 20 years of hard work on the track, Long not only regularly comes first in running events but is also the first Vietnamese person to run across Vietnam. Besides practice time, during the rest of the day, Long is an extremely close running coach with extremely easy-to-understand and effective lesson plans.
Reporter: The running movement in Vietnam has recently spread widely, with many running tournaments appearing. Many participants run, but in reality, not everyone runs with correct technique and is good at running. In your opinion, should that change?
Coach Nguyen Van Long: We often joke that people are born knowing how to walk and run. Therefore, running is the simplest sport. However, to run effectively, nurture passion, pursue goals and stay injury-free depends on each individual. I encourage everyone to wear shoes and step out of the house, even walking is okay, then gradually we adjust, learn and run correctly and well.

* Many people say jogging is extremely simple and inexpensive. There are also people who, after “falling into a hole”, say “jogging is not expensive but… very expensive”. So, which idea is correct?
– All ideas are correct (laugh loudly). It’s true that jogging is simple and inexpensive. With just a pair of normal shoes, you can run. But when you start walking or jogging, you should choose a pair of soft-soled shoes because it will protect and help your feet hurt less. After that, you should choose slightly better shoes, the purpose is still to protect your feet. It’s not wrong to say that jogging is very expensive, because when running regularly, we need to be equipped with specialized shoes, a heart rate monitor and buy a BIB (a valid entry ticket to a jogging event) to participate. tournaments… However, compared to many other subjects, jogging is still much cheaper.
* As someone who often comes to running groups to guide and impart experience, can you share the simplest lesson plan for everyone to follow?
– Honestly, I don’t have any documents. All lesson plans are handwritten and developed by me every day with each individual and each running group because each person will run according to their own physical condition. We must run for ourselves, not after others! Therefore, for each running group, I will teach basic techniques for everyone to maintain running form, how to swing their arms, how to breathe, how to tap their feet…
Once you have the basic technique, you can run at your own pace. With personal training, I will rely on the runner’s gender, age, body shape, marital status, number of children, etc. to develop a personal lesson plan to help them practice effectively, happily and without causing fatigue. fatigue, injury.
However, basically, I advise you, first of all, to get into the habit. Once the habit is formed, you will set a goal. The goal will become motivation and when we are motivated, we will commit and practice happily.
I always advise you to listen to your body, practice and run for yourself. In addition, you must always remind yourself what your motivation is: run to be healthy, to change yourself, to challenge yourself, to bond with your family, to travel together, to… find a lover…
* What do you think when there is a lot of advice that women should not run because this sport will make women age quickly, become dry, dark, and unattractive?
– Many women, when talking to me, often confided that they were afraid to run because they heard that. But in reality, I find women jogging very well. Women are easily stressed, jogging will help them release negative energy, reduce stress, sleep better, and be happier.
When stressed, women don’t easily go to shops to drink coffee and chat with friends. In addition, sweating while running will help open the pores and release the fat layer under the skin, thereby making the skin brighter and smoother.
To me, a healthy, confident, active woman always has special appeal.
* Thank you for sharing.
